Whitfield Country Club Community

The Whitfield Country Club community has a proud history revolving around the golf course that the area is built around. The course first opened in 1926 as the Whitfield Country Club and back then, the club was the focal point of Sarasota high society with membership being made up of the most distinguished people in the city. The course was designed by Donald Ross, who famously was the architect behind Pinehurst No. 2. Interestingly, the first head pro at Whitfield CC was none other than Tommy Armour, who went on to win a US Open and PGA Championship in his great golfing career. Brian Silva did some course restorations in 1991 and 2006. Today the club remains a private facility for members only.
